Local attractions

The village of Laggan is situated in the Central Highlands of Scotland, surrounded by the Monadhliath and Grampian mountain ranges.  Staying in this beautiful area provides visitors with the chance to explore the peaceful countryside with the possibility of seeing a wide variety of wildlife from Golden Eagle to Osprey to Red Deer Stag and Pine Martin as well as an abundance of wild flowers, plants and trees. The Highlands was the setting for the hit BBC drama series “Monarch of the Glen”, based in fictitious Glenbogle with much of the filming done in Laggan and the surrounding areas.

Furthermore, there is a wealth of opportunities within 20 miles radius of Laggan. Why not take a trip to the top of the Cairngorm Mountain on the funicular railway and maybe dine at the highest restaurant in the UK, taking in the dramatic views of the surrounding areas.  Experience the “water of life” at one of the many distilleries on the Whisky Trails.

For the more energetic, enjoy the challenge of mountain bike trails and on many local estates, try organised clay shooting, quad bikes, fishing, walking or cycling. Sailing and windsurfing are also available on some lochs. In the winter months visitors can capture the beauty of the mountains blanketed in glittering frost and snow and try skiing or snowboarding.
Visitors are truly spoilt for choice here in this beautiful area of Scotland, set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
